Our Vision

North Point EPC began worshiping together as a congregation in September 2009 and we’re still dreaming and planning for what we might become. The best way to understand who we are is to know that we see ourselves as a church-planting church. We’re pretty much a blank page that’s still being written, and we’ve given ourselves a name that speaks not only of our location north in the US north east, but also about our spiritual direction. Our logo is a stone cairn common on the trails here, a navigation marker to keep adventurous hikers heading in the right direction.
Here’s a summary of our hopes and dreams for the next few years – if it rings well – please come and visit with us. Perhaps we can journey together as followers of Christ.
- As a church plant ourselves, we believe that church planting is the best investment of our resources. Church plants involve new people. They grow vigorously, and connect people quickly. Church plants attract people who are not church-goers (60-80%), Church plants shaped by Reformed theology, develop vibrant cultures that attract people who value creativity, risk, and innovation.
- Our location provides wonderful opportunities for the advance of the Gospel even though there are fewer Gospel centered churches here than anywhere in the US. The North East is an intellectually active environment that has nonetheless become unaware of Christian faith. Our members are finding open doors in many fields for explaining thoughtful Christian faith.
- We enjoy a location that is really close to the city of Boston. As the benefits of Christian life and thought become experienced anew, we expect Bostonian institutions of great influence will be invigorated with a new sense of integrity.
- The North Shore is a great place to train Christians as leaders. Nearby Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, is one of the top seminaries in the United States and with some of its students and professors worshipping and serving with us we expect to encourage the theological training of leaders in every field of human endeavor.
So – consider this an invitation and join us for worship Sundays at 10am!
